Founded in 2006 by director and choreographer Mariana Curado, Academia R&D lives in the heart of Aveiro, in the legendary Beira-Mar neighbourhood. We guide our students along a structured, qualified path that inspires them to aim higher — and to keep going.
Three spacious studios over two floors, with flooring and lighting designed for maximum comfort and professionalism. From your first class to the stage, from the beginners' group to the competition teams — we're all team.

02Athletic
Breaking
The most athletic and acrobatic of the urban dance styles. Acro: acrobatic techniques and powermoves. Choreo: choreography rooted in Breaking.

03Funk
Popping
One of the original funk styles: body control through contracting and relaxing the muscles, creating effects with each “pop”.

04Groove
House
A style full of groove, danced to house music, with roots in the clubs of Chicago and New York.

05Performance
Female
A choreographic project blending styles such as Girlie and Commercial, exploring attitude and stage presence.

06Beginners
Kids
A first taste of hip hop: rhythm, coordination and lots of energy, in classes by age (HH Iniciação 0 and 1).

An immersive experience that carries the audience into social and personal stories reflected on stage. One central theme runs through the narrative, characters, set design, music and costumes.

Every student on stage to show what they've learnt over the year. A celebration of dance, community and each dancer's progress.
